Associação Académica de Coimbra match preview
By: j | December 1st, 2008Heading into todays match against visiting Associação Académica de Coimbra, Porto sits seventh in the table with Leixões off to a stunning start. With two matches in-hand the Azuis e brancos must stay abreast of the title race without fail. Led my former Porto-man Domingos Paciência, the Coimbra side are a proud squad that use a tightly marked strategy and rarely make defensive errors. While they have had problems finding the net, they put their opposition to task with tough, physical play and will not shy away from quality tackling as evidenced by their recent 2-0 loss to Benfica where they held their own through much of the match. Their greatest weakest is playing on the road, where they have yet to score a goal and certainly Estádio do Dragão is not an easy place to change their course.
Jesualdo Ferreira has listed the following players for the match:
Bruno Alves, Farías, Fernando, Fucile, Guarin, Helton, Hulk, Lino, Lisandro, Lucho, Mariano, Nuno, Raul Meireles, Rodríguez, Rolando, Sapunaru, Stepanov, Tomás Costa.
I will report on the match after it concludes
