Dragões defeat Paços de Ferreira 2-0

By: j | February 21st, 2009

The Dragões continued their eleven match unbeaten streak with a 2-0 victory over Paços de Ferreira.

Hulk opened the scoring for Porto fifteen minutes in with a brilliant left-footed shot to the opposite far corner. Porto continued to pressure as four minutes later the score was nearly doubled when Raul Meireles’ cross was headed just over the bar with Ernesto Farías diving header. However the hosts near leveled the match as four minutes before the half hour Rui Miguel’s drive from just outside the box that rang off the cross-bar. Continuing to pressure Pedrinha’s effort six minutes later just didn’t curl in enough to find the net and Porto kept the one goal advantage. Six minutes before the half, Hulk pulled his shot left and the match went to the break with Porto holding thin 1-0 lead. Finally four minutes after the hour Paços de Ferreira was victimized with a very questionable penalty call when Ricardo was adjudged for bringing down Hulk in the area and the spot was pointed to. Bruno Alves calmly stepped up and gave Porto the 2-0 lead. Without further opportunities, the match concluded with Porto winning 2-0 and maintaining their hold on first place.
