Porto advances in Portuguese Cup with easy win
By: j | October 20th, 2008Porto’s Portuguese Cup hopes advanced with an easy 4-0 victory over lower division Sertanense.
Jesualdo Ferreira wisely used the match as a general tuneup for tomorrows important Champions League match against Dynamo Kyiv at Estádio do Dragão.
Sertanense showed itself fit for the challenge and it wasn’t till time was winding down before the break that Tarik Sektioui opened the scoring. Ernesto Farías added a brace at the fifty-ninth minute of the match and sixteen minutes before time. Diego Campos was victim of the own goal at the seventy-seventh minute of the match.
Of additional note the match marked the well-overdue debut of Pelé who had come over from Inter Milan as part of the Ricardo Quaresma deal. The twenty-one year-old Porto native by all accounts accorded himself well and I am hopeful we will see more of him in the lineup shortly.
SERTANENSE: Fábio; Tiago (Anderson 63′), Salgueiro (Diego Campos 61′), Pedro Miguel and Américo; Leandro, Bruno Xavier and Filipe Avelar (Fernandinho 69′); Farinha, Joca and Baba
F.C. PORTO: Nuno, Tomás Costa, Stepanov, Pedro Emanuel ,Benitez (Bolatti, 32m); Mariano (Tengarrinha, 76), Pelé and Lino; Sektioui (Candeias 62′), Farías and Hulk
