

Porto advances in Portuguese Cup
By: j | December 16th, 2008Beneficiaries of a highly advantageous draw, Porto defeated third-division Cinfães 4-1 to advance to the quarter-finals of the Portuguese Cup / Taça de Portugal.
In front of their home fans, Cinfães put on a superb display and held Porto off the score-sheet until the seven minutes after the break with Ernesto Farías breaking the deadlock. However the story was not complete for Cinfães as with eighteen minutes remaining Sérgio Silva delivered the equalizer. In quick succession the Dragões grabbed the victory with strikes from Freddy Guarín with twelve and four minutes remaining, in addition to Candeias goal at the eighty second minute.
