Porto edges Académica 1-0 in Taça da Liga

The Taça da Liga continued with Porto edging past Académica 1-0 at Estádio do Dragão. The tightly played match was decided four minutes past the hour mark with an a own goal by Luiz Nunes. Although Porto had a number of reasonable opportunities to score throughout the match, finishing was quite obviously less than adequate and they escaped with a victory off a fortunate goal. With the victory the Azuis e brancos move to the top spot of their Group in the Cup race before the Vitória de Setúbal – National match.
Following the match Jesualdo Ferreira praised Porto for their disciplined play, general attacking intent as well as complimenting their noble opposition. Possibly the most important point and one that the manager pointed out directly was the play of twenty-one year old Aly Cissokho who came over from Vitória de Setúbal last week. It is clear from Mr. Ferreira that they young defender will will have ample opportunity in the future.
