Taça de Portugal v Leixões match preview

By: j | January 28th, 2009

The Azuis e Brancos return to action in the Taça de Portugal against Leixões at the Estádio do Dragão on Wednesday evening. Jesualdo Ferreira addressed a number of concerns pre-match:

“There’s a clear difference between the two matches [League and Portuguese Cup], which is the reflection of the evolution of both teams throughout this period. This is a Cup match, which also make things different. In the league’s match, Leixões was better and have won with justice. Leixões is still strong today, but I expect a much stronger F.C. Porto and I’m sure we will be better.”

“This is a top difficulty match and our team will have to be serious and exigent with itself in order to win the match and to fight for the triumph in this competition. We’ll make some changes in the squad, according to the standards we’ve defined to this phase of the season. I can say that Cissokho and Fernando will not play and Rodríguez probably won’t too. Anyway, the respect the opponent deserves isn’t biased by the changes we’ll make”

For the match Mario Bolatti, Hugo Ventura and Serbian international Milan Stepanov have been called upon. Aly Cissokho, Fernando, Helton and former Rapid Bucureşti man Cristian Săpunaru are unavailable due to injury.

Please enjoy the match and as always I will post a recap once it concludes.
